Manufacturing activity slowed further in June with a 2.2 point drop from the previous month according to the Bank of New Zealand-Business NZ Performance of Manufacturing Index (PMI) to 45.7. Strong growth in November was followed by an easing of expansion levels in December 2007.  This easing of expansion can be seen in the Business NZ seasonally adjusted PMI for December.  The PMI for December recorded 53.8, where a PMI reading above 50.0 indicates that manufacturing is generally expanding, below 50.0 that it is declining.  In November 2007 the PMI was 56.7.
