Thames-Coromandel District: Projections of rating units by year to 2019
David Norman
Client: Thames-Coromandel District CouncilDate: August 2008Authors: David Norman, Dr Ganesh NanaThis report provided projections of the expected changes in rating units from 2009 to 2019 for the Thames-Coromandel District. It also provided projections of the likely composition of the change in rating units, as well as projections of the change in dwellings. Projections of rating units will assist the Thames-Coromandel District Council in budget planning, by providing information necessary to estimate likely development levy income. The project used regression analysis to determine relationships between various economic and demographic drivers, and changes in the number of rating units in the District. Three drivers – Thames-Coromandel District population, Auckland Region unemployment (as defined in the Household Labour Force Survey), and a weighted mortgage interest rate – were found to explain most of the change in rating units over the 16 years from 1992 to 2007.
