The Marlborough forestry industry is made up of two sectors: the forestry and logging sector and the solid wood processing sector. In 2007, 205 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) were employed in 320 businesses in the Marlborough forestry and logging sector while the solid wood processing sector had 32 businesses and employed 260 FTEs. Between 1994 and 2007, employment and the number of businesses in these sectors have steadily increased. Once multiplier effects are included, the Marlborough forestry industry had an output of $375 million, generated $155 million in regional GDP and employed close to 960 FTEs in 2007.
