This report, commissioned by Grow Wellington, the economic development agency for the Wellington Region, had three purposes.

First, it provided an overview of the current state of the food and beverage sector in the Region in terms of employment and business units at a sub-sector level.

Second, it looked at trends within each sub-sector over the ten years from 1997.

Finally, it measured the importance of employment within each sub-sector in the Region relative to the importance nationally. In other words, it detailed which industries within the food and beverage sector were represented at a disproportionately high level in the Region, to see where the Region’s strengths lie.
