Profile of the Ashburton District and its key sectors

Client: Enterprise Ashburton

Date: May 2008

Authors: David Norman, Dr Ganesh Nana

This report looked at the contributions to total GDP of various sectors in the Ashburton economy. It also looked in greater detail at the tourism, sheep and beef, dairy, and arable sectors. It examined the industries most reliant on these sectors to absorb their outputs, and the industries on which these sectors rely for inputs. It also considered the role of imports and exports in these sectors.

Finally, the report highlighted the disproportionately large role in regional exports of the four sectors in terms of contribution to GDP.
