UK Inflation Down in July 07

CPI annual inflation was 1.9% in July 2007, down from 2.4% in June. Retail Price Inflation was also down to 3.8% in July 2007 from 4.4% in June. Most sectors saw drops in prices in the July month with falls in food prices, furniture and furnishings, transport, housing and household services and recreation and culture. The only major upward move was from clothing and footwear. Inflation in the UK is running slightly higher than European Union average, which is at 2.1% for the corresponding period.
