Measuring the Health Benefits from Improved Public Drinking Water Standards
Client: Ministry of Health Date: February 2001 Author(s): Mark Goodchild; Dr Ganesh Nana
This report reviewed a number of studies from the United States that measured the benefits from improved drinking water quality. These benefits relate to reduced incidences of cryptosporidiosis and bladder cancer. In our opinion, the studies used widely recognised methodologies and analyses that, with suitable adaptations, would be appropriate for assessing the benefits of improved drinking water quality standards in the New Zealand context. The report also identifies and discusses the minimum datasets and parameters that would be required to be able to perform such analyses in the New Zealand context. BERL #4107
